January Sketchbook Pages

Hello & Happy New Year! (I know we’re a few weeks in now but it’s still January so it counts!)

Just before New year, I started a brand new sketchbook - with no specific intentions for what I was going to do with it. But I’ve been quickly filling it up, with lots of designs for new floral pieces. The idea now is that some of these will be recreated as paintings, or possibly a few screen prints. These will hopefully go towards a new range of products that I’ll launch * later in the year * (I don’t have any concrete plans for this yet, and I’m keeping it low pressure for now, but it is something I’d like to get back in to this year)

I’ve been adding borders to some pieces, and putting the florals int o vases and containers, with decorative patterns inspired by this book I received for Christmas.

These have all been drawn from a combination of reference and imagination. For a lot of the double page spreads, I’ve used a reference image or book for one page, and then used that as inspiration to create something form imagination for the other page.

A few current floral obsessions include: pansies, pelargoniums, clematis, primrose and hydrangeas. I’m looking forward to spring to hopefully get some of these planted in my own garden so I can easily draw them from life.

I haven’t shared any of these pages online yet, so there’s a lot to share now:
