I’ve been trying to get more creative in 2020. I draw and design things for a living, but I don’t spend enough time just sat being creative for the sake of being creative. So far this year I’ve taken up painting again. The very first thing that made me want to have a creative career, was watercolour painting. It was something I used to with my Nanny, she loved to paint watercolour flowers and she taught me my very first lessons.

My work has evolved a lot since then, and I’ve gone through lots of styles and mediums, and until recently it had been a good few years since I actually picked up a paintbrush. After being inspired by a few pieces I discovered on Instagram, I decided to give it a go again. I did some research in to different types of paint, and found that gouache would be more suitable for me style (allowing me to add line work in a separate layer on top of the background colours) so I ordered myself some new supplies and sat down to paint. I’ve really enjoyed it so far and so glad I decided to pick up a brush again. I’ll be continuing to work on my style and hopefully produce some finished pieces soon.
