Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival

Last month I spent a very sunny day at Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival, and filled my camera roll with colour and inspiration in the form of ALL the florals.

Since then, I’ve been filling up pages in my sketchbook, inspired by the flowers I saw at the festival. I’ve only made a small dent in all the photos I took (and let’s be honest, I still have hundreds of images from Chelsea to work with too!) but I’ve found so much inspiration already. I’ve been paying particular attention to the patterns and markings on petals - something I’m bringing in to my painting work too.

Here’s some favourites, form inspiration to sketchbook:

Pinks:

Thunbergia:

Streptocarpus:

Aquilegia:

Painted Daisy:

Abutilon:
